Sean Meany is an Australian multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, drawing, photography and multimedia. He is currently based in the Australian Capital Territory.
Before undertaking formal art study, Sean worked as a rural fencer throughout the Monaro region of New South Wales. During this time, he developed practical welding skills and began making sculptural works from recycled and discarded farm materials. This hands-on, materially driven approach continues to inform his current practice.
He completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Curtin University in 2023 and graduated with First Class Honours in 2025.
Meany is a two-time recipient of the National Farm Art Award (2015, 2018). His work has been exhibited in regional galleries and includes permanent sculptures in Lockhart, NSW.
In the 1990s, Meany was a co-creator of Toybox Puppet Theatre, which toured schools throughout New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. This early experience in collaborative, performative work remains an underlying influence within his broader artistic practice.
